Location, Access and Install
The theatre is located on the first floor above the library in the Drogheda Municipal Centre, Stockwell Street. The installation of heavy and big pieces of equipment/sets takes place via an electric crane hoist (1000kg) which is located in lane at side of building (hoist gates 1.80m width, 3.80m height). This hoist loads into the loading bay adjacent to the stage. The stage is then accessed through a doorway, 1.60m width and 3.80m height. Access to the scene dock is via an area shared with neighbouring businesses. Although access is available at any time at Droichead Arts Centre’s request, permanent parking is strictly forbidden in this laneway beside the theatre. There is also a lift at main entrance (3.60kg) of Drogheda Municipal Centre and a broad open stairway measuring 1.2m.
Equipment
The theatre hosts a fixed rake seating system with 169 seats. The stage is W 7.57x L 10.35m x H 5m. There is a wooden sprung floor on the stage. It is compulsory that all set and props have a valid fire certificate. Any touring equipment deemed unsafe by the Production Manager may not be used. All touring lanterns must have safety brands and be in good repair or they will not be used. Please liaise closely with the Production Manager for more detailed information requirements. Download a full technical inventory for the theatre here.
Crew
Droichead Arts Centre provides one house technician for up to eight hours to assist with get-in, and one house technician for the get-out. Additional technical support can be requested in advance and there will be an additional charge. Droichead Arts Centre does not provide sound engineers, lighting operators or stage management for the running of shows. A member of our technical staff is however on standby at all times. Please advise in advance, if you require any additional crew, and we can organise.
Dressing Rooms
There are two dressing rooms all with mirrors, rails, wash hand basins, and toilets, measuring W3.7m x L 4.29m. There is access to tea/coffee facilities in our bar, so please check in with Anne, our Bar Manager.
