Droichead Youth Focus Group Film Project

Have you an old film project saved on a computer somewhere that never saw the light of day? Have you an idea that you never got around to? Our Youth Focus Group, as part of #DroicheadConnects are looking to showcase short films by local young film makers over the next few weeks. One already made, or one you'd like to make (adhering to all social distancing guidelines of course, see below for receommended guidelines)  So get out the smart phone, or fire up Windows Movie Maker, and get to work! There are three age categories 12- 14, 15 – 18, and 19 – 22.

Please upload your film to Youtube or Vimeo and email the link to collette.farrell@droichead.com, with your name, age, and title of film.  Films can be up to 5 mins in length.  Deadline for first series of films has been extended to Thursday 4th June.

Selected films will be shared on Droichead Arts Centre's instagram and other social media platforms by the youth focus group every month, at which point we will also host a discussion around the films. The audience choice for best film monthly will receive a €100  voucher for a shop of your choice. We look forward to showcasing home grown talent!  Launch date is 13 June in association with Creative Ireland as part of Cruinniú na nÓg 2020.

To help you make your film and still adhere to all Covid 19 guidelines please see below:

While we encourage fun and creativity for all our entrants, HEALTH AND SAFETY is most important. To that end, we advise that you follow all health and safety guidelines for your film projects to include

- Limit your cast to people who live with you. If that's not possible, have your cast members film themselves separately and send their footage In.

- There's lots of free animation software out there, why not try your hand at animating, or maybe stop-motion animation.

Some of the most interesting productions are those that embrace limitations. We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Our programme is available for free, Droichead continues to support and pay our artists, and if you would like to make a donation towards future programming you can do so from as little as €2 by CLICKING HERE (Only if you can afford to).

THANK YOU, STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY

Droichead Youth Focus Group is designed to look specifically at the needs and interests of young people aged 15-20. The purpose of the group is to advise on programmes that interest young people, to propose new initiatives, means of communication, and to be a consistent youth perspective for the Centre. The focus group ensures we have a direct channel of information, feedback and evaluation from young people in the community that helps shape, define and evolve our programme as well as our communications plan
