Our annual arts festival for children and families, that will thrill, engage, excite, create cultural experiences and facilitate learning for young people aged 2-12yrs. In our Centre, in our schools and in our library, there will be fun, creativity and lots of giggles.

 

IN OUR THEATRE

All his life Mac has wanted to be an Archaeologist, to be an expert in finding things and working out what they mean. If only he could stick to the facts and not get carried away with his highfalutin stories. But in a world where facts and figures mean so much more than fairy tale and fantasy, Mac has to dig deeper to prove what he finds is what he thinks it is. Will people believe him, or is this just another of his tall tales?

JACK AND THE BEANSTALK | LYNGO | BOOK NOW

Fee Fi Fo Fum! It’s a giant of a show, we’d love you to come! This classic fairytale now gets the Lyngo treatment so expect lots of surprises and beautiful images as Patrick Lynch (from Cbeebies) tells the gripping story of Jack who sells his cow for 5 magic beans and finds himself in the land above the clouds. It’s a show for the over 3’s (and their giants) with something for everyone – enormous shoes, tiny houses, showers of silver and gold and a big, leafy explosion!

UNDER D’BED | TAILTIU THEATRE COMPANY | BOOK NOW

It’s late, your room is a mess, your friends want to go late-night exploring, and you can hear your mother’s footsteps on the stairs.

Do you:
- Jump into bed, turning off the lights?
- Begin to tidy up?
- Make a break for it out the window?

Tailtiu Theatre Company will give the audience control as they present the premiere of Under D’Bed, a new choose-your-own-adventure play. Part theatrical experience, interactive game, join our plucky protagonist as he goes on a fantastical adventure, where YOU determine the outcome.

THE QUIET TREE | CEOL CONNECTED | BOOK NOW

The creatures of Whistleberry Forest have discovered a little oak tree growing deep in the woods. However, there are no birds singing, no leaves rustling, and no animals scurrying around its trunk. This delightful music performance takes children and accompanying adults on an adventure through the forest where they explore musical soundscapes, sing, dance, and help Oran the owl, Sorley the snail, and Faolán the frog bring the little oak tree to life through music.

WORKSHOPS

KIDS WANNA DRUM WORKSHOP | BOOK NOW
Tue 29 Oct | 10am-12pm, 1pm-3pm | €10 | Age: 8-12

Explore rhythm, pulse, tempo, tones, as well as traditional Afro-Brazilian call and responses in these Samba Drumming and Percussion workshops. Led by Kieran Gallagher, participants will get to play a range of instruments and produce a completed musical composition.

 

PUNCH LION COMEDY WORKSHOP | BOOK NOW
Wed 30 Oct | 12pm | €10 | Age: 9-12

Learn a variety of comedy performance skills, from stand-up comedy to improvisation, sketches to comedy acting and silly storytelling to ridiculous songs. A confidence-building workshop that is fun, positive and shhhhh (don’t tell anyone!) … a great laugh!

Storytelling | Dates: 7-11 & 14-18 Oct | Ages: Junior Infants - 1st Class
Delivered by Tríona Ní Dhuibhir, a singer and songwriter who writes Irish language short stories for children and creates bilingual workshops told through movement and song.  Workshops are tailored to the age and language level of each group.

Visual Arts | Dates: 21-25 Oct | Age: 2nd – 6th Class
Our team of six visual artists returns in 2019 to facilitate free workshops in local primary schools, letting children explore and experiment with different creative mediums.
