Saturday 6th July

Impressions of the Impressionists - their lives and work captured in poems by Drogheda poet/artist Roger Hudson – a rehearsed reading with sound and images.

Roger’s free-flowing words and rhythms capture the excitement of exploring new materials, techniques and subjects, the ideas they debated, their empathies and rivalries, Manet’s affair with Morisot, Cezanne’s failed friendship with Zola and Monet’s with Renoir, their battle with the artistic establishment, their struggles with poverty and prejudice, their sheer determination to stay true to their convictions.

Read by Roger, poet Brian Quinn, and artists Vivienne Byrne, Richard Moore and Garry Maguire.
