Drogheda Traditional Music Weekend now in its 22nd year, brings some of the most accomplished & talented traditional musicians, singers and dancers throughout Ireland and overseas to Drogheda on the last weekend of November with the generous support of Louth County Council. There is a special emphasis on having sessions accessible to family audiences in various venues and a focus on traditional singing due to the strong tradition locally. This is achieved through sessions in cafes, restaurants, public venues, heritage locations and through master classes and schools programmes.

Set Dancing

Dust off your dancing shoes. Termonfeckin Set Dancers lead this popular dance class with excellent tuition and live music performance from Seamus and Fidelma Bellew.

Primary Schools Concert featuring Zoe Conway, John Mc Intyre and Mick O Brien
Friday 23rd Nov | 10.30am – 11.30am | €5 per student

Venue: Droichead Arts Centre

Irish fiddle player, Zoë Conway, is a prodigious talent, equally at home in both traditional Irish and classical styles. She is a holder of the much coveted All-Ireland Senior Fiddle Champion title and was voted Best Traditional Female of the Year in Irish Music Magazine. Zoë tours regularly with her husband, John Mc Intyre on guitar, and the duo have been described as “simply one of the best folk duos on the planet”. (BBC)
Mick O'Brien is one of our best-loved uilleann pipers, performing regularly as a solo artist, with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, and with the Norwegian groups Vamp, Hanne Krogh, and Secret Garden.

Michelle Mulcahy is one of Ireland's most talented and gifted multi-instrumentalists in Irish traditional music today. Her array of instrumental mastery spans the harp, concertina, piano, fiddle and accordion.

Tholsel Historical Talk

Local Historian, Noel Bailey gives an historical talk on the Tholsel and other historical buildings in the town.

Slow Sessions

A selection of easy and well known session tunes will all be played slowly so that people in the early stages of their playing or those coming back to playing music can have an opportunity to play together in a friendly, supportive and informal setting. More experienced players who wish to refine their techniques at a slower pace are also very welcome. All players, and also singers are very welcome. And if you just want to listen, well come long, as what would music be without someone to listen to it. Tea, coffee and biscuits are included.

Exclusive launch of Gerry O Connor’s new album “LAST NIGHT’S JOY”
Long known as Gerry ‘Fiddle’ O'Connor, this is one fiddler whose pulse is quickened by the sheer delight in the tunes. As a fourth-generation fiddle player, he knows the value of the shared tune. On this his 2nd solo recording, Gerry draws from a wide range of sources and the album features a veritable who’s who of traditional music.
