Thursday 8th September

Droichead are thrilled to announce our THEATRE CLUB for Autumn 2022. This season we have a programme of seven unique, critically acclaimed shows. The season features premieres of two new plays, one by our company in association Red Bear Productions with their new play Once in a Lifetime, plus Unguarded by actor/writer Anthony Kinahan. The season will kick off with Rex Ryan's Poptart Lipstick; and also features the return of Teaċ Daṁsa, the company who brought us Swan Lake/Loch na hEala, in 2018, with their acclaimed new production of MÁM

Set up in 2017, and heading into its 9th season, Droichead Theatre Club brings audiences together to see a play, and like a book club, our audiences can share their views, thoughts and impressions informally post show with the cast and creatives. If this is your first or your 50th play, it doesn't matter, come along, and be part of the drama at Droichead.

Oh and have we mentioned its great value too, seven productions for €87. BOOK ONLINE or call 041 9833946 to be part of the Drama at Droichead.

DOLLY AND MICK | Written by Seamus Moran | Featuring Seamus Moran and Brenda Brooks | SAT 24 SEP 8PM

A musical double act, a relationship in crisis, is it time to face the final curtain?

Dolly and Mick are returning from a gig.  He’s a widower from Limerick, she’s a divorcee from Arkansas. They both know their relationship is in trouble. Mick thinks they just need a break. Dolly knows the only way to save their relationship is to give up the act. A funny, engaging story with a poignant denouement and several live songs that echo the love and hope, disillusion and despair, passion and perseverance that colours their story.

THE BORDER GAME | Directed by Emma Jordan | Prime Cut Productions | Featuring Cat Barter and Patrick McBrearty | SAT 01 OCT 8PM

On a farm on the border, a fence needs repair after being destroyed by vandals. When Sinead finds Henry hungover in her field, she ropes him in to help. But re-building a fence is more complicated than it seems. What begins as a simple task soon turns to talk of their past, a reliving of old memories, and a relentless competition to come out on top.

When a father’s world falls apart, he must battle through obstacles to ensure a future for him & his son. Love; loss; laughs & families left behind: this new, original theatrical story - developed by Louth-based actor/theatre-maker Anthony Kinahan - highlights the vulnerable position many families in Ireland find themselves in, due to the lack of legal protection. SELVAGE | by James Riordan | Directed by Laura Campbell | Brú Theatre | SAT 12 NOV 8PM

An evocative, inventive theatre show merging puppetry and physical storytelling with a live music score by Anna Mullarkey. Selvage (a line of self-securing knitting), is a one man show about unravelling tightly wound modern anxieties and a boy's triumph over his 'gnaw'.

‘Whereas one-actor shows are often stripped back affairs, Riordan deployed a range of effects and elements in an always absorbing, frequently funny, and keenly touching piece.’ – Galway Advertiser
