DROICHEAD ARTS CENTRE SUPPORTING ART AND ARTISTS IN THE NORTH EAST REGION.

As per our Strategy 2022 – 2026, creating a compelling programme of work that supports artists and nurtures audiences is at the heart of who we are and what we do. It is why we exist. To put arts at the heart of peoples’ lives. We want to create an ecology which nurtures art and artists, and which makes the production and presentation of high-quality work available. We do this by providing a suite of artist development supports including residency programmes, artists in association, awards and bursaries, partnerships, commissions, opportunities to showcase work through productions and co-productions, and solo and group exhibitions.

In 2022 we are excited to announce one of our associate artists, Red Bear Productions. Writer/director Tracy Martin and actor Aoibhéann McCann lead this innovative company which presents dynamic theatre & film, telling unique stories of the human experience. In association with Droichead Arts Centre, Red Bear will develop and present a number of projects and productions over 2022/23. Supported by The Arts Council.

Once in a Lifetime | a play

World Premier of this confronting new play which tells the explosive story of four women who face drastic decisions that will affect the rest of their lives. This brand new play by Tracy Martin will be presented at Droichead Arts Centre at the end of November.

Coast | the film

A co-production with Alfonso Films, Coast the feature film will begin filming this year in County Louth. The theatre production, of this story garnered incredible reviews and full houses at Dublin Fringe in 2016. The screenplay adaptation will continue to follow four protagonists whose lives collide on the beach of a run down holiday town.

In Your Own Time | an outreach initiative online

Building on from Droichead's successful Theatre Club, Red Bear will extend their reach further into the community to bring theatre productions online to groups who may find it difficult to access shows. If you are part of a group that would like to watch world class theatre productions from your home please do get in touch with coordinator Sinead Keogh here
