Droichead Arts Centre are thrilled to announce an evening of poetry and spoken word curated by Droichead's Literature Audience Development Officer, Dani Gill. Featuring Drogheda born multi-award winning poet and spoken word artist Ciarán Hodgers and a number of writers from Drogheda Creative Writers group including Roger Hudson, Emer Davis, Brian Quinn, Dawn Staudt, and Marian Clarke.

Ciarán's debut collection Cosmocartography toured the UK & Ireland for 30 dates and was featured on BBC Radio 4’s Front Row, The Independent, The Irish Independent, RTE Radio 1, BBC Radio Merseyside. Named “one of the region’s most exciting spoken word performers” by The Independent, he was named a highlight of Guy Garvey’s Meltdown Festival at the Southbank Centre London and a “powerhouse poet at the top of his game” by Lingo Festival Dublin. He has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize 2020 and won the Sean Dunne National Young Writer 2010, an International Pangaea Poetry Slam Champion 2015 and the Word War 3 Slam Champion. He has also been shortlisted for the OutSpoken Prize for Poetry two years in a row and longlisted for the Not The Foreword Prize and the Ginko Eco-Poetry competition.

Drogheda Creative Writers have continued to meet throughout these recent challenging months, and are delighted to have this opportunity to share their work on the Droichead stage. 

From the 2 October, in line with government guidelines, we are slowly easing restrictions and increasing our capacity only up to 50% in a safe and considered way. To do this we will still operate in pods of 1's, 2's, 3's & 4's, keeping at least two seats around your pod free. Seating for the moment will be unallocated, and we will notify you of your seats in advance.  In order to keep everyone safe we will require you to wear a mask at all times and we will also require proof of vaccine/recovery and ID.
