Droichead Arts Centre will host a full bar service from February 2009. Good news for visitors who don't drink wine! This in addition to the theatre refurbishment seeks to make the venue more comfortable and enjoyable entertainment experience for our audience.
Congratulations to Calipo Film and Picture Company
Everyone here in Droichead are thrilled for Calipo who won The best Short Film Award at this years European Academy Awards (Europe's version of the Oscars) for their latest film 'Frankie'.
The glittering ceremony took place in Copenhagan, Denmark.
'It was amazing to be there among some of the biggest film makers and the most talented actors in the world. Dame Judi Dench was at the next table to us,' a delighted Darren told the Drogheda Independent.
Frankie beat off competition from 14 short films from all over Europe.
Theatre Refurbishment
The Stockwell Street refurbishment planned for June 2008 has been delayed until June 2009. Refurbishment works take four months complete. Droichead Arts Centre's Barlow House premise will remain open. Events will be programme in venues and spaces through during this closure. Droichead Arts Centre looks forward to having a newly refurbished centre in the autumn.
